P.T.F.E. TAPE

PRODUCT DESRIPTION:

Thread seal tapes from Unipak are white, non-adhesive thread seal tapes produced from pure Polytetraflourethylen (PTFE).

P.T.F.E Tape (10 m x 12 mm x 0.075 mm). LD (density: 0.2 g/ cm3). P.T.F.E. thread seal tape is ideal for systems with water, drinking water and compressed air. Max. pipe diameter: 3/4”. Temperature resistant from -200°C to +80°C. Max. pressure: 10 bar.

USE:

P.T.F.E tape is our lowest quality tape and it is applied for the sealing of threaded joints on systems for drinking water and compressed air. Applicable on all types of materials (iron, metal, plastic, fibre etc.)

TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:

The exceptional strenght and high molecular weight of the carbon fibre-fluorine compound provides PTFE-tape series of outstanding qualities. Temperature proofed in general from -200°C to +260°C depending on tne density of the tape. On installations with a workintemperature higher than 90°C we recommed to use tape with a density of 1g/cm3 or more. PTFE-Tapes are resistant to almost all types of acids, bases, solvents, chemicals etc., however, with the exception of fluorine, some fluoride chemicals and melted alkali metals. Very low coefficient of friction. Non-inflammable (ASTM D-635 og D-470). Non-ageing. High tensile strenght even at low temperatures. Breaking-down resistant, especially, in connection with bending and vibrations. Sound electric insulating power independent of frequency and temperature.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

Remove any dirt and metal shavings from the thread before application of PFTE-tape. Put the tape on the thread joint in the direction of inclination of the thread. Apply the tape with an even, firm pull to be tight-fitting about the thread. Dependent on wanted thickness of layer the overlap should be from ½ to ¾ tape width but when using this low density P.T.F.E. tape also more. After assembling of the thread joints you should not disassemble o turn back on the joint. Dependent on pipe diameters the following type of tape is applied: Up to 25 mm UNITAPE is recommended. From 25 mm to 40 mm MAXITAPE is recommended. From 40 mm 65 mm JUMBOTAPE is recommended. Due to the fact that JUMBOTAPE is extremely flexible, it is ideal for coarse, damaged or sharp pipe threads. For very high pressure installations (e.g. hydraulic systems) thread seal seal tape with a high density is recommended anyhow (e.g. Maxitape). The tape is used alone and without any use of lubricants.

The information above is given on the basis of tests and experiences. However, since we have no knowledge about all details in the final use of the product we recommend a trial installation to ensure that the specification of the product matches the physical demands.
