DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Surface must be clean, free of dust and grease. Cut open cartridge up to the thread with sharp knife. Turn the nozzle onto the cartridge. Cut the nozzle to the desired diameter (= joint width) (at
least 5 mm Ø in case of joint seams). Place cartridge in the sealant gun and inject sealant evenly into the joint, crack or hole. Keep the nozzle tight onto the joint to make sure the sealant is applied into the joint. Spray Unipak Sealant Finisher onto the joint. Moisten Joint Tool and smoothen sealant within 10 - 15 minutes. Let the sealant fully cure. After approx. 15 minutes, a surface skin will form.
Airtight constructions: For large gaps, joints or seams (in e.g. partition walls) first use suitable back padding. Inject sealant into the joint and spread the sealant evenly with a (flat) brush to a
seamless film of at least 1 mm thickness with a minimum width of 3 cm on both sides of the joint. The thickness must be measured (wet) with a layer thickness gauge.
Stains/residue: Remove excess sealant residues immediately with a wet cloth, remove cured sealant residues mechanically.
Advice:
- Ensure a minimum joint width of 5 mm and a maximum of 25 mm. The joint depth depends on the joint width. The join depth should always be in the correct relationship with the joint
- width.
- Joint - Depth calculation joints < 9 mm: Joint Depth = Joint Width.
- Joint - Depth calculation joints > 9 mm: Joint Depth = (Joint Width / 3) + 6 mm.
- Unipak Poly Max® Sealant cures under the influence of humidity. Contact with humidity is therefore absolutely necessary during curing.
Points of attention:
- Shower can be used after 2 hours (water resistant joint).
CAUTION: do not immediately fully load shower cabinet or bath!
- For bonding applications, use Unipak Poly Max® Fix & Seal.
- Can be painted with all Acrylic and most Alkyd paints.
- Given the wide variety of paints, always check paint compatibility on sealant in advance. For the best results it’s recommended to paint after 2 hours.
- Take into account that curing time of Alkyd paints may take longer.
- Total UV absence can cause discoloration of the sealant. Possible discoloration does not affect the technical properties of the sealant.
- Due to the variety of substrates (e.g. metals, plastics, etc.), it is recommended to carry out a material compatibility- and adhesion test in case of doubt.
